JORDAN FROST
For those who of you who don't know me, I'm a writer. Mostly, I write Fan Fiction at www.fanfiction.com. I've always had comments asking where I get some of my ideas, and I've decided to answer. My ideas come from everywhere. Sometimes from books, sometimes from other fanfiction stories and sometimes from art. There's not really any rhyme or reason to my mind, so I can't explain to you how I got from one thing to the next, but I can give you my starting points.
I hope that this will help inspire everyone out there who has always wanted to write. Fanfiction can be sort of scoffed at by some people, but it helps the creative process. If you can take existing characters and write an incredible story, then you're only one step away from creating your own characters and your own story. Some people don't realise that they write a 20 chapter story with each chapter being 10 pages. That, my friends, is a novel.
Writing is a process and everyone has different ways of doing it. There is no right or wrong. My process is a little random, but my rules are simple.
1.) Always know your ending.
2.) Every chapter should propel the story forward. If it doesn't, then take it out.
3.) Set-up is more important than anything else. If you have a good set-up, then your story will flow from you.
4.) Never be married to your work. The simple fact of the matter is your readers are important. If they don't like what you've put down, then they're going to stop reading. Listen to them. All reviews, no matter how negative, can be helpful in some way.
Anyone, if they put their mind to it, can be a writer. I want to help anyone with the desire that I had when I started. I'd also like to start getting feedback on some of my original stories. That will come later. For now, I'm sharing my thoughts.
